Gas tank cap ornament (part3)

Igor (Discharged and the man who invented crack ointment) has made a gastank for his XS650 bobber project. He mailed me this pic with the measurements of the tube. The round ornament has to fall over the weld, so it has to be a mild bowl shape.
This is the proto I made today, so he can see if it fits next monday.

Copper bellmouth

I found a shiny copper miniature thing??? No idea what it was, but when I removed the top and the bottom, the shape of it it really cool. I made it look old and I think it could be a real cool carb bellmouth. This one is too small so I have to make something myself.

Gas tank cap ornament (part2)

I've been working on this brass ornament again. This is what it looks like so far.

Shortening front fork legs

Yesterday I managed to get about 7cm of the front fork leg to achieve that low gravel-crew like look. Today my dad and I pulled the inner spring back in place.....pfffff

Brass tail light

Trying to make a tail light. The shell was originally part of some ugly candle holder or something....well anyway, I didn't shoot a picture of it.....cut off the ugly parts and made the back of it round.

Caferacer....or

Last week I've saw a pic at gravel-crew.
It's amazing what they do with Japanese bikes, without changing anything to the basic frame.
Since I've already put the back-end of my bike down about 1.75", I thought I'd try to see what it would look like if the front came down to the same level.

Paintings by Piet

My Father in Law is complaining to me that no one visits his site. Pay him a visit some day at www.pietlammers.nl, it's a really nice site and he's maintaining it himself in modX at the age of (almost) 75!
This drawing of Rembrandt's painting De Nachtwacht, Piet made at the age of 14...

Gastank modification

I've started today on my gastank. I bought a CB750KZ tank from a 1981 model. It had that annoying mounting brackets on it for the sidecaps. I've cut them of and made the whole thing smooth with filler. Then I started to annoy myself about the fact that it still was a 750KZ tank......

So I've sanded the whole thing back to bare metal and started some cutting to get that straight line from the front to the back. (Enormous dent has to be fixed!!) Now I think I'm gonna made some "kneeholes" to the sides to make it fit better to the seat and give it a real race look. The fuel opening has to come of also to make the top smooth.....

Pee on a Tree (Part 1)

That's my boy!

Gastank cap ornament

Today I've tried some different kinds of rivets on different material. Copper plate with brass rivets, brass plate with copper rivets. I've also tried to make it look old by heating it and cooling it off with oil.

The idea is to make a brass round plate with copper rivets. I did this real quick Photoshop just to see what it looked like....
